Search For External Scholarships
External scholarships are those provided by non-FIU organizations. These outside organizations often send external scholarship information to the Office of Scholarships. The scholarships are reviewed before posting so that students are offered the most accurate information. If you have any questions about a particular scholarship, please contact the organization listed.
To view all external scholarships, click on "Opportunities" at the top of the page in Academic Works and then select "External" in the drop-down menu. Students are encouraged to review this page frequently in order to stay up-to-date with all new opportunities posted. The listings are searchable by keyword to better help students find scholarships for which they are interested.
As part of FIU’s participation in providing federal and state financial aid, federal law requires that all external scholarships be considered when determining eligibility and awarding financial aid. Therefore, we will adjust the student’s financial aid when necessary to prevent an overage of Cost of Attendance.
Submitting Checks
In order for FIU to apply outside scholarships to a student’s account, students should provide the organization with the following mailing instructions:
- Make the check payable to “Florida International University.”
- Include student Panther ID and full name on the check/memo.
- Indicate if the funds are intended for a particular semester or the full academic year.
- Mail the scholarship check prior to the payment deadline: https://onestop.fiu.edu/academic-calendar/.

Wire Transfers
Students must keep in mind that wire transfers that come from Non-FIU scholarships (external organizations) are handled on a case by case basis. Please email us with the name of the organization, if the organization is domestic or foreign, and when the funding is expected, and we will provide you with instructions on how to send the wire transfer for the FIU Office of Scholarships.
